IT IS SO HOT!!!!!!!!! Yesterday I watched my son's soccer game, came home and threw up it was so hot!  And I wasn't even playing!  My son was fine, so I guess I'm just a wimp!  But in my defense, it was 100 degrees and today is supposed to be that hot too.  I hope it's cooler where you are.

Flowers I love planting flowers and playing in the dirt!  I just planted some flowers and they're so pretty! (Okay, I'm a girl, what can I say?)  I hope they don't die in the heat.  My favorite color flowers are white, yellow, and purple/blue.  What are yours?

A big hot hello to Rachel, blwolwicz, Connor, and Brody.  Kaitlin, I don't think it's weird that you like to read my books and you're in fifth grade.  I meet lots of kids your age who read my books.  In fact, I like to read kid's books and I'm a whole lot older than fifth grade.  If you enjoy it, I say go for it.  In April of 2009, I will have a harder series called Keyholders that I hope you'll try.

Lauren, your plays were totally cool!  Yes, Raena, I was really scared skydiving during the freefall, but I liked it when the parachute caught and I was floating.  I'm not sure which school you go to, but I did have lunch with some students recently.  The librarian chose some kids, based on a contest I believe.

Danielle, congrats on your book writing.  Of course, I remember visitng Cheyenne, Wyoming.  I do hope you'll enjoy your new school in New Mexico.

Desiree, it would be cool to have the Bailey School Kids be a TV series.  I'm excited because it's being made into a traveling play right now.  Ben, I hope you enjoyed Wizards Don't Need Computers.

Hope you'll check out my summer reading bookmark on my homepage.

Stay cool, Debbie

When I was in elementary school, my favorite things were playing baseball in the backyard, riding my bike, and reading.  What will do you this summer?

Pragun, I'm glad you like my website.  Let me know if you have any suggestions.  I always like to make it better.  Of course I'd like to visit your school, as well as Danielle's.  Just get your teacher to contact me in the events section (I only can respond to adults in that section.)  I hope to write lots more books.  I love doing it.

Kira, when Marcia Jones and I first wrote Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots, we did tell that Mrs. Jeepers was a vampire, but our editor asked us to change it so it wouldn't be so scary.

Dina, I'm glad you like the Ghostville Elementary books.  Keara, Ashley, and Mackenzie, some books are hard to write and some are easy-I never know!  Good luck to Charity, Megan, and Danielle on their writing.  Danielle, good luck with your new school.  Charity and Megan, the inspiration for Angels Don't Know Karate came from when I took karate lessons.

Sarah, my middle name is Sue, although DVD would be fun initials!  Dawson, my first book came out when I was 29.  Shelby, I live in PA. and I've written about 147 books.  One of my favorites is The Worst Name in Third Grade.  Amanda, my longest fiction book is probably Whislter's Hollow.

Bonjour (hello in French) to Kiristin, Jacqui, Evana.  Jonathan, sorry that I don't have any color photos of Eddie's dragon hat, but I think orange spikes would be cool.  What did you decide?  Pengie, you can order Mrs. Jeepers Creepy Christmas from Scholastic.com.  Lots of books have Mrs. Jeepers' picture in them.  All of the super specials do.

b4n, Debbie

What good investigators Nikkia, Brennon, Syrus, and Louis will make.  They noticed that Miss Kidwell didn't have a bell charm in Gremlins Don't Chew Bubble Gum.  It was because the bell and the clock were tied together.  The bell rang at a certain time.

Go Jacqui Go!  Good luck with your reading.  Jenna, I've written 147 books.  Mat, I do like to write because anything can happen in a story.  Good luck with your writing Alexis.  You might like to try out the new writing section of my website.  Amy, my creatures are made-up, but if I ever meet any real vampires or werewolves I'll let you know!  Evan, I've had many different editors.  I like to read, I think that made me want to write.

Bonjour (that's French for hello!) to Chelsea, Micheal, Nori, Dana, Mary, Karen, Shyla, Colin, Annissa, Melody, Amanda, Michael, and Stephen.  Are you looking forward to the end of school?  Kamau, check out the Swamp Club for a special section on me to help you with your book report.  Michael, you can write to me in care of

Scholastic  557 Broadway  New York, New York 10012

Katiea, I do hope to write more Bailey School Kids books.  I had a great childhood growing up in Kentucky.  I rode my bicycle everywhere.  My first book was Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots.  In the future, I hope to write a song.

Tiffany and Hannah, go to the Swamp Club for stuff about me for your report.  You can also find out about me in the About Me section under EVENTS.  Zoe, of course I've had problems in my life.  Who hasn't?  Because I believe in God, I pray for help and guidance.  That has gotten me through my toughest times and frankly through every day.

Laura, the story I working on  with my daughter was originally called Ball Hog.  We are rewriting it and will probably change the name.  Brandon, yes I do think Mr. Jeepers is pretty and it would be cool if they made a move.  They are making a professional play of it.

Sam, I do love to write.  Good luck to Lauren and Anna with their writing.  I hope to continue writing for a long time.  I've written about 147 books, Nicholas.  One of my favorites that I did not write is Where the Red Fern Grows, Melissa.  My favorite part of writing, Devon, is that you can make anything happen.  Yes, Haley, sometimes it can be hard-but sometimes it can be easy to it evens out!  Elizabeth, inspiration for writing can some from anywhere, even the newspaper.

Colin, Shane, Jay, and Ta-my favorite chapter is Super Eddie in Ghouls Don't Scoop Ice Cream.  That book took about a month to write.  Thanks for the votes for the covers on my home page.  So far, the old cover is winning!

Brenton, your ending was cool.  I have your letter on my desk, but I'll answer you here.  I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to write with you.  My daughter and I are writing a story, plus I have my new series to write with Marcia as well.  I don't think it would work out, but I hope you'll still keep writing.

Elizabeth, Keyholders won't be in stores until next April.  Thanks to Taylor, Leonardo, Kerry, Madeline, and Julia for your cool names for the Magical Kingdom.  Elise, I haven't heard from my editor yet.  I hope one of them will be chosen.  Cara, you can give me your choice in the Kid's Talk section.  Taylor, it's fun to write about scary creatures.  Jacquie, I hope you'll read one of my books.  Matthew, there's  a list of my books in the book section.

A big wet sloppy thanks and hello to Marissa, Maddie, Ethaan, Caroline, Dana, Josh, Gerard, Adam, Joey, Brytan, Josh, Matthew, Fred,  Hannah, Tiffany, Jessica, Jake, Georgia, Eddie (now, that's a name that makes me smile!), Caroline, Isabella, Jackson, Andrew, Ethan, Joel, Tommi, James, Kelly, Sue, Simone, Lyndsey, Amanda, Madeline, Brynn, Michael, Natalie, Madeline, and Samantha.
