Hi Jordan, Jessica, and Laren!  So glad you like my books.  Jessica, the lung fish is really interesting.  Have you ever Cupid Doesn't Flip Hamburgersseen a wolf fish?  It's pretty wild looking.  Kailey and Destiny, thanks for your fun ideas.  I'm glad you like Cupid Doesn't Flip Hamburgers.  My favorite part is the anti-love potion.  Charlize and Emilie, I submit my stories to an editor and if they like them, they get published.  If they don't like them, they don't.  So, I don't always get a choice.  Maybe you could write your ideas for fun, Debbie

Dear Rayna, it is amazing that you have read 65 of the Bailey Schools Kids books.  That is awesome.  Ryan, I think my favorite day is Christmas, but my birthday is good too.  I Aliens Don't Wear Bracesactually have one coming up this week.  Zac, I definitely still shoot hoops.  I have a basketball hoop in my yard.  Jason, your question is hard.  I am proud of all my books.  Whistler's Hollow and Cherokee Sister were the hardest to write though.  TJ, do you mean my favorite character?  Eddie is definitely fun to write about.
Maddie, I think you can always write, even if it's not the best!  Jeffrey, I think chapter books are fun to write.  Emilie and Charlize, your suggestions sound like great fun!  I'm glad you both like Aliens Don't Wear Braces.  Kai, I do like mysteries.  Do you?  Alex, do you think we should write more Bailey School Kids books?
Wow, I'm glad you guys are enjoying The Worst Name in Third Grade:  Bella, Emma, Kris, Victoria, Annika, Alex, Dennis, and Kimaya.  The dog is based on my dog, Bailey.    The Slime WarsShe is 17 years old and she is definitely slowing down.  Megan, I'm trying to think of another book like it.  I'm not sure!  Savannah, I think all stories need a problem-sometimes more than one.
Andy, what kind of stuff would you like to see in a book?  John, I just found out that Emperor Casesar Augustus was my 47th grand uncle.  I think history is interesting.  Do you?
Allison, Kyra, and Kartik-I'm so happy you like all my books!  Hello to Aaliyah.
David, Craig, Cameron, Melissa, Julie, Jonathan, it is hard to pick one favorite book from my 158.  Today, I'm partial to  The Slime Wars.  Felice and Jack R., do you have a favorite Bailey Schools Kids book?  Cameron, my favorite animal is Ghosts Be Gonedefinitely a dog.  Craig, I thought it would be fun to skydive to learn about it for a book, but I was pretty scared!
Alexander, it is so neat that The Ghostville Elementary series inspired you to write your own books!  Tiffany, I am rewriting a new Mermaid Tales book today.  It is called Royal Rescue.  Emily, I do prepare before I visit a school.  Sara, I get ideas from everywhere-even newspapers!  Brennen, I love to read, spend time with my family, and play tennis.  Victoria, I think I mostly wanted to write because I enjoy reading so much.  Dary, my daughter and I are working on a story together.  Hope you all have a wonderful Children's Book Week, Debbie

Dear Aaliyah, writing is my job now, but I used to be a teacher and a librarian.  Ryan, Max, and Colleen (and your sister and brother), I am so glad you like the Bailey School Kids books.  Sarah and Alex, I love to read, do things with my Mummies Don't Coach Softballfamily, and play tennis.
Yes, Katherine I did get frustrated at first with Nathan some when we wrote Slime Wars and Slime Time, but I think he was more frustrated with me.  But Gabrielle, we did end up having fun with the stories.  Dhruv, I get ideas from everywhere-even the newspaper!  Nikki, a friend with a strange name gave me the idea for The Worst Name in Third Grade.  Ryan, I also feel sorry for the man in your neighborhood.  I hope the kids stop teasing him!  Which character would I bring to life?  That is a tough question.  I must say it would be pretty cool to see This Side of Magic, Keyholders #1a real mermaid!
Colby, Christopher, and Abby, it is hard to pick one book that is my favorite.  It depends on my mood and the time of year.  Since my family recently went to see the Philadelphia Phillies play, I am really liking Mummies Don't Coach Softball.  Cody, I think funny books are my favorite kind of writing.
Christopher and Stacey, I am glad you enjoyed Inside the Magic.  Part of the idea came from where I live and a huge border of bushes and trees.  Claire, I must like being creative because my husband says I always like to change things to make them different.
Sarah, I think longer stories are a weakness for me and I think the chapter book length it a strength for me.  As for writing tips, I hope you'll check out my writing page.  Maybe you'll like my silly writing movie.  I do love to read and my newest book is The Lost Princess.
Cade and Kayla, I like to read so much I thought it would awesome to write something that someone else might enjoy.  If you live close to Doylestown, PA., I hope you'll come to my booksigning this Sat. at 2:00 at the Doylestown Bookshop.  Have a great weekend, Debbie

Hi Emma and Emily, I'm glad you like the Bailey School Kids books.  My favorite food is strawberries.  Daniel, Cameron, and Connor it is hard to choose one favorite-but Werewolves Don't Go To Summer Camp is definitely one of them.
Daniel and Sarah, I love to read.  That and the fact that The Worst Name in Third Grademy grandmother kept a diary inspired me to want to write.  Ian, I wrote my first story for publication when I was 27.  Abby, when I was a kid I wanted to be president!
Madison, to recommend a book I need to know what you like.  Do you like sports, fashion, mysteries, silly, fantasy?  There is rarely a book that everyone likes.
Jessica, I have never really been stumped on what to write because I keep a file of ideas of things that I want to write about if I ever get the time!  Daniel, my first book was Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots.  Morgan, there was girl who lived in my neighborhood and her last name was Snotgrass.  Sometimes people teased her about her name and I didn't think it was fair.  That led me to write The Worst Name in Third Grade.  It might interest you to know that it was orginally called The Worst Name in Fifth Grade and my editor wanted me to change it.
Alanis, I love mermaids too!  Did you know that The Lost Princess just came out this week?  Julia, the Bailey School Kids books are a bit creepy, mysterious, and funny while the Keyholders are harder with fantasy.  Hey Trey, do you think Inside the Magicwe should write an anniversary edition of the Bailey School Kids books?  My next book comes out in Sept. and it is the Secret Seahorse.  Cade, I get ideas from everywhere-even kids who write me.  Cade and John, my first book came out in 1990.  Sonia, your story sounds awesome.  You might like to check out my writing page.
Adekumni, I have only written one book for adults:  Story Sparkers.  John, I must like chemistry-my husband is a chemist!  I must like microbiology because my daughter is majoring in immunology and toxicology.    Do you like chemistry and biology?  Have a great day, Debbie
