Hey Carlee and Teagan, you might like to check out my writing tips. Good luck with your writing! Faith, it is hard to keep going sometimes, but I just take a break. Hello to Mason and Caraline. Caraline, I do like mysteries. My grandmother had a mystery happen to her that I put in the book Whistler's Hollow.
Mrs. Layman's Kindergartens, it was great to meet you! Jacob S., Anna, and Hannah W., your school is awesome. Katelyn, I loved the polka dots! My favorite authors are Marcia Jones, Nathan Dadey, and Becky Dadey. Madeline and Carly, I have three dogs. Isabella, I love dog stories! Gracie and McKenzie, I love to read so that definitely helped inspire me to write my own stories. My first book was Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots. Nina, I hope you'll like it! Addison and Garrett, thanks for the birthday wishes.
Christina, Nathan is in graduate school now. Tori B., Emily, John, Emrel, and Tianna I'm glad you liked Trolls Don't Ride Rollercoasters. Emrel, there are 51 numbered Bailey School Kids books, but there are also Super Specials and Holiday Specials. Tianna, I am scared of roller coasters! Jaclyn, you sound like an awesome reader! A big hello to Mia, Jillian, Laney, Paige, Noah, Madeline, and Kelsey. Gwen, your idea was funny. I liked the pink boxer shorts. Griffin, I hope you will try one. Maddy, the names for the Bailey School Kids came from a phone book. Emma and Marlena, I get ideas from everywhere, even vacations! Laura, I'd love to see your wax museum. I hope you can go to the Blue Marble. I'll be there tomorrow from 1-3:00. If you live near Fort Thomas, KY, I hope you'll join me.
Madilyn and Allison, I definitely think you could become authors. It does take a lot of work. Matthew, I think maybe you just haven't found the right book to read yet. Maybe you are writing it! Andrew, the story I sky-dived for is called Almost Normal. I haven't sold it yet. Have a great weekend, Debbie

Christina, enjoy your last week of school. My son still has several weeks left. Teagan, hope you'll check out my writing page for advice. Good luck with your book! Garrett, the idea for my newest book came from a vacation to the beach. Heather, my daughter and I just finished a book together. We hope it gets published. Lily and Zoie, I hope you enjoy Mermaids Don't Run Track.
Keya, afaic means as far as I'm concerned. You can find out about Bridgett's slang here. Hailey, my favorite part of Santa Claus Doesn't Mop Floors is when Eddie toilet papers the teacher's lounge! I hope you never do that!
Logan, you can click here to figure out how old I am. Will, I'm reading a book called Cinder that I'm enjoying right now. Olivia, Tanner, and Sally-I have lots of favorites. It is hard to pick one, but my favorite series is the Bailey Schools Kids. I think it's because I have written more of them and Malayna, the characters in the series become real friends to me. Hi Halle, my first book came out in 1990. My son, Nathan, has helped me write two books: Slime Wars and Slime Time. My daughter, Becky, and I have finished writing one that we hope to get published. I have written 151 stories that have been made into books. I do like mermaids! The idea for the Bailey School Kids books came from a bad day. I hope you'll
enjoy Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots and the Mermaid Tales. Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Mrs. Klei's first graders, I am looking forward to visiting you. I hope Witches Don't Do Backflips isn't too scary for you. The skydiving was research for a book called Almost Normal which isn't published yet, but I hope it will be! Mr. Jarrell's first graders, can you guess which fairy tale we used as inspiration for Giants Don't Go Snowboarding? Maybe you can write a story based on a fairy tale too. Your teacher might like to look at this for some additional activities. Kate, I have many favorites, including Trouble at Trident Academy.
I'm sending out good wishes to you and to my niece who is having a baby today, Debbie

Dear Mrs. Johnson's second graders, I look forward to meeting you on Friday. Two things made me want to write Mermaid Tales. One, I have spent my last two vacations at the beach and two, I had a discussion with an editor and she thought a mermaid series would be a lot of fun. And it has been. Of course, I do have mermaids, but I also have merboys too.
Madi, I'm so glad you like all my books. Do you have a favorite? Lily, I'm not sure why I haven't gotten your other notes. Thanks for you cool idea about a clown on a motorcycle. Did you see Sea Monsters Don't Ride Motorcycles? Best of luck with your City story. It sounds very exciting. Sydney, I'm happy you enjoyed Mermaids Don't Run Track. Have a great week, Debbie

Hey Samuel, I bet someone owns the rights to Peter Pan, which means I can't write about it without their permission and probably paying them a fee. I'll have to check. Laura-lee, your vampire idea is fun! Noah, you have lots of stuff-here's a bit more to help.
1. Besides Marcia Jones, Nathan and Becky Dadey-Richard Peck is my favorite author.
2. I like to visit schools. I even visited one in Cairo, Egypt.
3. I was a terrible waitress in college. I went to Western KY University.
4. I collect birdhouses.
5. My office is orange with wild monkey curtains. My husband hates it!
6. I love to watch Broadway plays (actually any plays, especially musicals.)
7. I love to watch John Wayne movies. My father-in-law met John Wayne during WWII.
8. My ancester, Joel Gibson, fought in the Revolutionary War.
9. I play the piano.
10. I sky-dived to get ideas for a book.
11. I have three states I haven't visited: Maine, Oregon, and Washington.
Noah, I hope that helps. About the information you had: I was a librarian at Sayre School and Tates Creek Elementary. I still have three dogs. Maatkara, my favorite Keyholders books is #3. I really like the dragon on the cover. Morgantown is named after where I was born: Morganfield, KY. Hope some of you can join me tonight at 7:00 in Harleysville, PA. at the Harleysville Bookstore. I'm bringing a mermaid! Best, Debbie
