Happy May Day! The countdown has begun to the end of school! Can you feel the excitement? Summer is just around the corner, but first I get to visit some schools. This week I'll be in Cheyenne, Wyoming having some fun at Rossman Elementary.

My webmasters have been magically adding things to my site. Check out the Swamp Club . There's wallpaper you can add to your computer screen. There are a bunch of different choices-you can even pick your favorite Bailey School Kids character. Also, there's a new trivia game. Some of the questions are easy-but some are hard! How well do you REALLY know the Bailey School kids books? And don't miss the new DRAWING WITH MRS. ZORK section and Werewolf fun . Carley, Brittany, and Oyin can check the Swamp Club for help with your book reports.

Nicole and Caroline, the next Bailey School Kids book will be Mrs. Jeepers Creepy Christmas and it answers the question of exactly what is in the box in Mrs. Jeepers' basement!

Kevin, you are on a roll with your awesome first chapter. As for help with writing I'm working on adding a writing section to this site. Keep your eyes out for it. I'm slow so it will probably take me a while.

Ollie, you might like to try one of my Barkley School for Dogs books.

Voilanut, check recent postings for the outline to The Worst Name in Third Grade. I'll see if I can dig up a BSK outline for you. Marybeth, I've written and sold about 132 books.

Wow, the last two weeks have flown by. I went to Pennsylvania to look for a new house and then I went to California to visit Newcastle Elementary and to speak at the Golden Reader Luncheon. The kids were great. It's close to Sacramento and the area was very pretty.

Now, I'm back in Colorado and determined to work hard this week on my screenplay. I will also be visiting a school in Livermore, Colorado to talk about my new book, The Worst Name in Third Grade.

Greetings to Oyin, Aricia, Mrs. Cherry, Miranda, Clarie, Bob, Kevin, and Rachel, Kimmy, Rachal, Sarah, Cellan, Koko, Jessica, Tirzah, Brittany (and Ollie). Brittany, my favorite new book is the Worst Name in Thrid Grade. (I haven't heard from your teachers yet about a visit.)

Aaliijah, Hi back to you. I'm glad you like my books. Courtney, my favorite flower is a rose. I was born in 1959.

Alexandra, my first book was Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots. Amber, watz up with you? Ask your librarian if she can order The Worst Name in Third Grade. My favorite BSK character is Eddie.

Amanda there were 5 people in my family growing up. I had two brothers. Liza is LI (long i) and za (short a).

Rebecca, I think Coach Waterford loves the sea. Don't you?

Kayla, it takes different amounts of time to write different books. Some go quickly and some take longer. It took one week to write Dracula Doesn't Rock and Roll. It took eight years to write Cherokee Sister.

Thanks Monikaa for your fun title. Yes, Andrew I do like writing the Bailey School Kids books. I love thinking up crazy things for Eddie to do.

Greetings to all you crazy kids (and normal ones too). I hope you all had a great Easter and got lots of chocolate bunnies. I ate a piece of chocolate cake and got a stomache ache!

Britanny, I'm glad you had a good Easter. I've written 132 books (I've never baked any!). I think some of my books are in Braille. Look on the teacher's site for bookmarks for The Worst Name in Third Grade. They should be up today. Maybe you could give them to your teacher. It would be cool to visit your school, but your teachers have to invite me.

Alexandrea, I like to ski too. I hurt my knee so I didn't get to ski alot this year.

Hi to Amanda and Mora, stay cool in kindergarten. Leslie, I love to read-that's why I like to write. You have to snail mail me for an autograph. Check recent posts for the address. My first book came out in 1990.

Brenton, I asked my editor about your suggestion (which I loved), but no word yet. Editors are often quite slow. (They have a lot of work to do).The book is not out yet that's dedicated to you. The best suggestion I can give you to help your stores is: READ THEM OUT LOUD. It's a good way to find mistakes. I think I should make a section of this website with tips for writing. What do you think?

I know Tyler is doing a report because he wanted to know where I went to school. 1. Weaverton Elementary grades 1-5 (I didn't go to kindergarten) 2. Henderson County Middle School (6-8) 3. Henderson County High (9-12) 4. Western Kentucky University for undergraduate and graduate degrees Tyler also wanted to know the best thing that ever happened to me. Wow, that's tough. There have been so many good things, like my faith, my family, and my passion for writing! Caroline, I think a TV show would be cool too. Actually, the Bailey books have been optioned once for a show, but it didn't work out. Hopefully, it will happen again.

Karlie, it's nice to hear from you. I'm glad you got my note. Freedom, my next two books are Ghostville #17 (No Haunting Zone) and Pirates DO Ride Scooters. Cameron, Skeletons Don't Play Tubas is my favorite BSK. Hi to Shiru! Gavi, I'm glad you liked my postcard. Sorry I can't send you a book. For security sake, I can't take your address over the Internet. Some bad guy could read it!

Gabriella, I've written about 132 books. My big news is that I just sold 4 more in a brand new series! This website was developed last year and is still under construction so if you have suggestions, let me know. I had another website that I designed about 10 years ago. I shared it with Marcia Jones (www.baileykids.com). Now Marcia has that website by herself.

Brittany and Evians, do you read my books in Braille? Claire, I loved the second grade. But in the third grade, my teacher was mean (or at least I thought so at the time!) Hi to Zoe, Cyndy, and Bridgett. Stay cool, Debbie For the second and third grade after school readers, it's LI (LONG I) and za (emphasis on the za with a long a and the z makes a z sound) for Liza. Kevin, Brittany, and Orjin, I look forward to reading your stories. How awesome!

Kevin, believe it or not I knew all the songs from your sister's concert. I do love to sing (I just don't sing well!) There is a new game on the way, keep checking the Swamp Club for it. Welcome to another wonderful week. I'm having so much fun writing a new Bailey School Kids book. Guess what? In this book, you find out what's REALLY in that coffin in Mrs. Jeepers' basement!

Kevin, thanks for another fun idea! I hope you enjoyed #51, Dragons Don't Throw Snowballs. I like the part where the kids hear the dragon outside the school and race to safety. Guess what? It's snowing here in Colorado right now. We're supposed to get three to five inches. I guess I'd better watch out for snow dragons. Hey Cameron, my favorite Bailey School Kids book is Skeletons Don't Play Tubas. What's yours?

Greetings Brittany! Gabi, I'm glad you got my postcard. Did you know you can order books through my site (with your parents, of course)? Or check out the library or your local bookstore. WorstName Bridgett Butt - (The Worst Name in Third Grade)

Bridgett gets teased because of her last name. Her best friend, Amanda, defends her against a bully. They both love their teacher.
Their teacher tells them bad news: she is moving. Bridgett is crushed. It's the worst thing that could happen.
Bridgett pours her heart out to her dog. The bully still teases Bridgett and even her brother isn't very nice to her. Bridgett is determined not to be nice to the new teacher.
Bridgett's best friend is a traitor. She likes the new teacher with the funny name.
Bridgett is mean to the new teacher, but when the bully teases again, Bridgett yells at him.
Amanda has a new best friend-Carey. Bridgett is heartbroken
Bridgett's dog is sick and Bridgett's brother is actually nice, for a minute.
Bridgett fights with her brother about her dog.
Amanda and Bridgett have a fight and the bully teases her again. This time Bridgett stands up for herself.
The new teacher tries to get Bridgett to like her, but Bridgett is determined not to like anyone but her old teacher.
When the bully makes fun of the new teacher and Bridgett, Bridgett has had enough. She yells at the bully in front of his friends. Amanda is proud of Bridgett for standing up for herself and for the new teacher. Amanda, Bridgett, and Carey become friends.
When Bridgett gets home, her dog is gone! Bridgett is very worried. Her brother tries to comfort her, but he's worried too. When Mom brings their dog home from the bet, they are both relieved that he's okay. They realize how lucky they are-even if they do have the last name of Butt.
